Virginia La Torre Jeker, J.D., US Tax Specialist, UAE

Virginia has been a member of the New York Bar since 1984 and is also admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court. Virginia has been living and working in Asia and the Middle East for over 30 years and understands the US tax issues that are particular to multinational families and US persons living overseas.  She has been quoted in the New York Times, Newsweek and the Wall Street Journal, as well as in many local news articles and publications. She has been interviewed by CNN and has been invited for local television appearances.  Virginia is regularly asked to speak at numerous conferences and seminars and has published a vast array of scholarly works on US tax issues, some of which have been referenced by attorneys or organizations both to the US courts and US Congress.

Virginia works predominantly with US tax issues for foreign investors in the US property or general investment market; pre-immigration tax planning for those considering US green cards or citizenship; tax and State Department issues for those giving up US citizenship or long-term green cards; tax issues for Americans living and working overseas, tax and FBAR noncompliance matters and offshore account issues including IRS Voluntary Disclosure and Streamlined initiatives; “Controlled Foreign Corporations” and “Passive Foreign Investment Companies”; trust and estate tax issues for high net worth individuals; general income, gift and estate tax planning; and US and international taxation planning especially for expatriates and multi-national clients. 

Virginia has been based in Dubai since 2001; prior to that time she worked in Hong Kong for 15 years as a US tax consultant for international law firms, major banks (including HSBC), international accounting firms (Deloitte) and trust companies. Early in her career she worked in New York with the top-tier international law firm, Willkie Farr & Gallagher.

For many years before it was disbanded, Virginia served on the Professional Tax Advisory Council, American Citizens Abroad, based in Geneva, Switzerland. She was a guest lecturer at the University of Hong Kong, LL.M Program (Law Department) and served as an adjunct Business Law professor at the American University of Dubai and at the American University of Sharjah where she also taught the legal and ethical aspects of Internet Law and Internet-based transactions.

Jimmy Sexton, LL.M. is the President and CEO of Esquire Group, a company he co-founded in 2005. Leonard Tuber, EA, specializes in U.S. international tax compliance and reporting. He has held senior and managerial positions in large accounting firms in Israel and is currently the CEO and founder of Leonard Tuber USA Tax Services Ltd.

He is recognized in the industry as an expert in complex areas of revenue recognition (i.e., PFIC taxation, Subpart-F taxation) unique to U.S. citizens conducting business overseas. Over the past several years, Leonard has been very involved in US voluntary disclosure programs, expatriations, and representing clients in offshore matters before the IRS.
