An advocate as well as a Chartered Accountant (S.A.), Croome specialises in the area of tax law, particularly taxpayer’s rights, estates and trusts, and tax administration. 

Croome’s award-winning doctoral thesis from the University of Cape Town dealt with constitutional law, taxpayers’ rights and the powers of SARS. </o:p>

The author of the seminal tax work "Taxpayers' Rights in South Africa," (Juta 2010), and other tax books, Croome is regularly quoted on tax issues in print and electronic media, and is often interviewed on South African television and radio.

Croome is the South African branch reporter for the International Fiscal Association’s 2015 Basel conference which topic deals with the protection of taxpayers’ rights. His tax articles are published in international and local journals, and include his column ‘Tax Bites’ in Business Day’s ‘Business and Law Tax Review’.

 A member of the editorial panel of The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants’ (SAICA) tax publication, “Integritax”, Croome is currently chairman of SAICA’s Tax Administration Act sub-committee.

Croome has spoken at international conferences and regularly presents at local conferences. He is an occasional lecturer in tax law at UCT, Wits and Unisa.

Ranked as one of the five best tax advisers in South Africa by the Tax Directors Handbook, and as 2010 Best Tax Lawyer in South Africa, Croome is listed in, inter alia “Wikipedia”; “Who’s Who (Southern Africa)” and “Tax Who’s Who”.
